Sipoo, Finland – 18 August 2024 – The second day of the third round of the 24MX Enduro European Championship ended today in Sipoo, Finland. After an extremely challenging first day, the competing riders continued to battle to conquer the top step of the podium. The jury, considering the difficulty of the previous day, decided to reduce the number of laps: two for the Women class and two and a half for the other categories.
As yesterday, the riders faced three special tests: immediately after the start, the Cross Test, followed, after about ten minutes, by the Enduro Test. The tests, as the riders progressed, became more and more detailed and techniques, increasing the challenge. To conclude the lap, the Extreme Test, which offered an exciting spectacle, with a large audience coming to see the skills of the competing riders.
Roni Kytonen once again confirmed himself as the dominator of the stage, signing the overall classification and winning ahead of Daniel Mundell, in clear recovery after the subdued opening day, and Matej Skuta, who climbed back to the top of the classification after an unlucky day 1 . Kytonen also took victory in the E1 class, ahead of championship leader Davide Soreca and Davide Mei.
In the E2 class, Daniel Mundell won, beating his compatriot Alex Walton, who took first place yesterday. The podium was completed by Finnish Eemil Pohjola. In E3, Anthony Geslin continued his winning streak, prevailing over Robert Riedel and Mattia Capuzzo, separated by just three seconds!
In the Junior 1 class, Frenchman Killian Lunier returned to the top step of the podium, winning ahead of Finns Tiitus Enjala and Albert Juhola. In Junior 2, Matej Skuta took back first place by a razor-thin margin, just 3 seconds, ahead of Frenchman Diego Haution (Team Atomic) and Matyas Chlum.
The weekend saw another success for Riccardo Pasquato, who led Italy to the first step of the Youth class, followed by Gabin Allemand and Juho Ahokas. In the Women class, Sara Traini achieved her first European victory, ahead of Mauricette Brisebard and Viivi-Maria Mäkinen.
In the Senior class, unlucky day for Maurizio Micheluz, due to a sprocket problem on the special test which made him lose a lot of time. Victory went to Marko Tarkkala, followed by Juha Puotsaari and Mika Karma, who completed an all-Finnish podium.
Among the Trade Teams, Gaerne achieved another victory, followed by Diligenti Racing and Team Wales.
Now the 24MX Enduro European Championship is taking a long break and will return to the stage on the first weekend of November in Wolterdorf, Germany, where the European champions of this exciting 2024 season will be decided.
