The 2023 Borilli Enduro European Championship kicked off with the Motocross Marketing Round #1; under an uncertain sky, Fabriano hosted the European Season’s opening day. At 9:00 o’clock the first two riders, out of the 120 registered, started their first racing day. Three special tests have been prepared by Motoclub Artiglio for the occasion: the Eleveit Enduro Test was the first one to challenge the riders. With its 7 km in length and the continuous alternation of narrow lines and slightly wider parts, it established the technical level of the event. The Airoh Cross Test proved to be the most complex test, the soft, slippery ground soon dug and became really complex to deal with. The 24MX Extreme Test was the last scheduled test; the stone section and some of the uphills were the trickiest part of the special tests. Despite a few drops of rain, Day 1 ended successfully.
The best rider was Lorenzo Macoritto, the Italian and his Fantic topped from the end of the first lap to the end of the day. His times crowned him as Overall Winner. With a 20-second gap Matej Skuta placed second while the young Pietro Scardina made the third position his own. The times of the Italian have not only allowed him to step on the Overall podium but also to win the Youth class, tying in second position the French Romain Dagna and in third his compatriot Luca Colorio. The Junior 1 winner was Riccardo Fabris, who successfully finished all the special tests with better times than the German Maximilian Wills, who got the second position. Herman Ask closed the J1 podium. First step of the podium in the Junior 2 for Matej Skuta, the Czech Republic imposed himself on the 2022 Class Champion Lorenzo Bernini, who in turn imposed himself on Matyas Chlum. German flag beat on E1 podium: Andreas Beier got the best class time, behind him Aleksander Bracik and Riccardo Celesti, second and third.
Lorenzo Bazzurri triumphed in E2 thanks to an 8-second lead over Frenchman Killian Irigoyen, who got a second class position. The British rider, Alex Walton, finished this first effort on the third step of the podium. Lorenzo Macoritto won a second class: the E3 class. Silver medallist for Frenchman David Abgrall while Roberto Da Canal closed the podium. Maurizio Micheluz won the Senior 40 European Cup, Nico Rambow took home second place while Riccardo Chiappa closed the podium in third. Inside the Senior 55 European Cup Arturs Robeznieks won by putting Danielius Zostautas and Andrea Ragni behind him. Winner today in the women’s class Tanja Schlosser, runner- up Joana Goncalves and third position for Mauricette Brisebard.
In the 24MX 50cc Trophy Matteo Fersini topped, followed in second position by Manuel Savi and in third by Yuri Lombardo. In the Trade Team class, the 2022 European Champion division won: Diligenti Racing (Maurizio Micheluz, David Abgrall, Luca Colorio, Jacopo Traini) collected the best overall time, relegating the Sweden Enduro Team (Gustav Mahler, Lucas Bergstroem, Sebastian Olsen and Franz Lofquist) to second place. KTM Novi Korona (Bracik Aleksander, Bracik Rafal and Maciej Więckowski) closed the class podium.
The Airoh Cross Test really tested the technical skills of the riders, who had to be quick to adapt to the continuous changes of the test. At the end of the day the best interpreter of the track was Lorenzo Macoritto ; for him therefore comes the victory of the day within the Airoh Cross Test Trophy. The Eleveit Enduro Test Trophy saw Pietro Scardina as its winner. The italian, despite his young age, was the one who best knew how to read the track, conquering a noteworthy time.
Motocross Marketing Round #1 Day 2 will see its riders leave the park closed at 9:00 a.m. and it sees its race track remain unchanged, except for the Airoh Cross Test, which saw its Starts and Finish changing position. This decision was made due to the condition of the ground. Tomorrow’s Prize Giving is planned at 17:00, don’t miss it!
