Sipoo, Finland – 17 August 2024 – The first day of the third round of the 24MX Enduro European Championship ended today in Sipoo, Finland. Over 100 riders competed on an extremely challenging race, characterized by hard terrain and natural obstacles, which put the participants’ skills and endurance to the test.

The race started with the Cross Test, partly designed on the Sipoo motocross track, on hard ground. The riders then faced the Enduro Test, a technical route immersed in the typical Finnish forest, where the vegetation and uneven ground required maximum concentration. Once this first part of the lap was concluded, the riders refueled before launching into the second half of the track, which took them to the 24MX Extreme Test. This test, on hard and rocky terrain, with significant natural obstacles, represented one of the challenges hardest of the day.

Riccardo Pasquato

The riders completed three laps, demonstrating great skill and determination. The fastest time of the day was recorded by Finnish Rony Kytonen, who returned to the European Championship after five years. Despite a fall in the last special test which cost him precious seconds, Kytonen still managed to take victory on his home round, climbing to the top step of the podium. Behind him, the two riders of the Atomic Moto team, Anthony Geslin and Diego Haution, separated by just 10 seconds in a last-gasp challenge.

In the Youth class, Riccardo Pasquato won a very close battle, beating Gabin Allemand by just 2 seconds. Juho Ahokas completed the podium, while Frenchman Matteo Arrieta remained outside the top three by just 4 seconds.

Pyry Juupaluoma

The Junior 1 class saw an adrenaline-filled finale with Pyry Juupaluoma overtaking championship leader Killian Lunier in the last special stage, taking advantage of a fall by the Frenchman. Tiitus Enjala finished in third place. In Junior 2, Diego Haution dominated, winning by a margin of 1 minute and 28 seconds over Italian Riccardo Fabris, while Matyas Chlum took third position. Unlucky day for Matej Skuta, the championship leader, who due to a problem with his bike during the Extreme Test, slipped to last place.

Rony Kytonen completed his day of glory by also winning the E1 class, ahead of the Italians Davide Soreca and Davide Mei. In E2, the British Alex Walton got the better of Eemil Pohjola and Daniel Mundell, winning after nine hard-fought stages. Anthony Geslin dominated the E3 class, prevailing over Mattia Capuzzo and Robert Riedel.

Difficult day for our girls involved in Women. The tough route and the demanding special tests put the ladies of the European Enduro to the test. Zuzana Unger stopped the clock first with Viivi-Maria Makine second and Mauricette Brisebard third. Reigning German champion Tanja Schlosser is out of the running after breaking her humerus bone in a fall.
